Python was developed as a Hobby Project

Python was not developed as a commercial product or for a specific purpose. Instead, Guido van Rossum started working on the language as a hobby project in the late 1980s while working at the Dutch research institute CWI. He wanted a language that was easy to learn and read, with a clean syntax that would allow programmers to express concepts clearly and concisely. Little did he know at the time, that his hobby project would become one of the most widely used programming languages in the world.
